GUIDELINES ON HOW TO COLLECT AN IDENTIFICATION LETTER FROM THE PARAMOUNT RULER AND/OR THE CDC CHAIRMAN OF YOUR COMMUNITY OF ORIGIN
Introduction:
In addition to the LGA/State of Origin Identification – usually obtained from the local government area, some scholarships require at least one other Identification Letter from your Community of Origin; from the Paramount Ruler of the community and/or the CDC Chairman of the community. This is different from the LGA Identification.
Description:
In both cases, the Identification Letter is simply a document confirming that you are an indegene of the community; stating that you are from so-so-so village/town in so-so-so community. It may be handwritten or typed. There is no specific restrictions on the format. But the important thing is that it should come on a letter-headed paper. The Paramount Ruler and the CDC Chairman already know what the Identification Letter is all about. Normally, they easily and willingly give it to every indegene of their community upon request.
How to get the Identification Letter from the Paramount Ruler of your community:
Proceed to the Paramount Ruler of your Community of Origin and request for the Identification Letter. (The Paramount Ruler may be the KING, IGWE, EZE, OBA, CHIEF or any other community leader).
The letter may be prepared and given to you immediately or you may be required to come back and collect it.
How to get the Identification Letter from the CDC Chairman of your community:
Proceed to the CDC Chairman of your Community of Origin and request for the Identification Letter. (CDC stands for Community Development Council or Community Development Committee. In the absence of a CDC in your community, this Identification Letter can be obtained from the Town Union, Community Government Council, Community/village Youth President, etc).
The letter may be prepared and given to you immediately or you may be required to come back and collect it.
